About this directory

AllPermitSearch is an independent directory of United States building permit offices. It exists because finding the right office, and the right page within that office's site, is unreasonably hard — and because the alternatives are either the jurisdiction's own site (authoritative but hard to navigate) or aggregators that copy stale data and charge for it.

What we do

For each jurisdiction listed we retrieve the official permit page, read the department details published on it, identify the permit platform where one is detectable, and link through to the source. We record the date we did it, on the page itself.

What we do not do

• We do not issue permits, accept applications, take payments or schedule inspections.
• We do not publish fee amounts or processing times.
• We do not host copies of application forms, because offices reject superseded versions.
• We do not claim coverage we do not have. Eighteen states currently have no verified jurisdiction in the directory.

How this is funded

The directory is free to use and requires no registration. We may run advertising in future; if we do, it will be labelled, and it will never determine which jurisdiction appears or what a page says about it.

Corrections

Data goes out of date — offices move, phone numbers change, portals get replaced. If you find something wrong, tell us and we will re-check it. Corrections from the offices themselves are especially welcome.
